The Quest - I’m All In #3
40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
We are going to walk through many experiences of Jesus, Moses and some others in the Bible on a Quest to “Experience his Glory/Presence” in a way that few have experienced it.
Throughout this year we have purposefully lined out messages to get us to this day, To start “The Quest.”
Home: Home is where the Presence of the Father is, Sonship (Chair 1), the Door.
Abide: Becoming well acquainted with the Culture of Heaven, Trusting Him moving forward.
The Quest: Pursuit of His Glory - an encounter with Him today that will transform our tomorrow’s.
We must start “The Quest” with “The Quest-ion!”
“Is my passion for His Presence/Glory measurable outside of the expression of ‘Church Services?’”
If my only measurable expression of His Presence happens in “Church Services” something has to change.
It is not a Quest if there is not a purpose. We cannot just say “We want His Glory” just to say we experienced his glory. God does not waste his Glory.
This is the reason we are on a Quest. This is the reason we are in “Pursuit of His Glory!”
There is a mandate from God: Isaiah 61:4b “they shall repair(redeem, make new) the ruined cities, and (redeem, make new) the devastations of many generations.
The purpose of his of His glory for the setting free of his people from bondage and slavery.
This Quest is not for the faint of heart.
There is something that has halted many movements of God and it is a “Cautiousness” that is fear based and many religious over time have labeled it as wisdom.
There is a Wisdom from God, that comes from the Holy Spirit. That wisdom is to move you forward because the Holy Spirit “will show you things to come.”
Many times “Cautiousness/Fear comes from Uncomfortableness: 1) Fear of what I do not understand
2) Knowledge that I do to have.
The reality is we, the Church, because of “Fear of what I do not understand” and “Knowledge that I do to have” have been taught to co-exist and endure with the “mountains” instead of moving and transforming them.
1 Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” 4 When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” 5 Then he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” 6 And he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. 7 Then the LORD said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings,
God is wanting to show you something, even show you Himself.
3 And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.”
God is not trying to hide Himself from us. This is not a game of “Hide & Seek” Sometimes we just have to get in a different position to see Him.
God’s Presence is many times prefaced by his voice. So when God speaks he is wanting to bring you into His presence.
4 When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” 5 Then he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”
It wasn't until His position changed did he hear the voice of God. When his position changed the Voice came and it was to draw him into his Presence.
Now we are going to talk about being in God’s presence.
When you are in God’s presence you are in the presence of “Holiness.”
Revelation 4:8 “Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God Almighty”
Now there is a difference between righteousness and Holiness.
Righteousness is because of the blood.
Holiness is because of the presence.
There are a lot of people, marriages, friends, family members that are living in Righteousness because of the blood but not in Holiness which only takes place in the presence of God.
This is why Christians get divorced, why friends get drunk, why family members are still depressed, etc… because we received the cleansing blood of Jesus but haven’t made time to spend in the presence of Holiness.
“The church must get past just wanting forgiveness and desire Holiness!”
What was Holy?
Vs. 5 “Do not come near; take the sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”
The ground was holy. (Not a trick question.) Why, the presence of God was there.
What was the one instruction? Take off your sandals.
God wants us standing in his Holiness not on his Holiness.
When you just want forgiveness and not Holiness you are standing on God’s presence and not standing in God’s presence.
The reason you get forgiveness is not to clear your conscience but to bring you one step farther into the presence of Holiness.
God is saying take off whatever is keeping you from standing in my Holiness.
God is going with you on a Quest, not sending you on a Quest.
10 Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
When you enter His Presence and encounter His holiness you gain the authority to use His Name.
“Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
