The Grinch - I’ll Steal It All
In this clip of The Grinch, he wants to stop Christmas from coming. His plan to do this is to steal all the presents. Little does he know the major crisis is not Christmas. It is the false meaning of what the Grinch perceives Christmas to be versus what it actually is. It is not until all the "perceptions" that he had about Christmas are destroyed that a transformation in his heart occurs.
Scripture: Luke 1:26-33
26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
As 2020 is coming to a close, it seems like it has been a year of captivity, where a year of our life has been stolen from us. If it hasn't physically stolen something from us, it has affected our joy and our peace. If we are not careful, our perception will steal what God is trying to plant as a promise.
The Promise of the Messiah was birthed because of captivity.
Isaiah prophesied about the captivity.
Jeremiah is prophesying as captivity happens.
Daniel is in captivity while he is prophesying.
The promise was birthed because of captivity.
What are you conceiving in the midst of your captivity?
What starts as Prison, God makes a Promise that becomes a Progressive Revelation.
The promise comes in Isaiah, and the progressive revelation lasts for over 700 years to the birth of Christ.
Isaiah 7:14, "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
While you are in captivity, don’t quit! Because there is a promise given to you, and you are a part of the progressive revelation.
Even in captivity, Daniel was conceiving the promise. What are you conceiving in the midst of your captivity?
In a dream, the Angel quoted to Joseph the promise that the Prophet declared to start the Progressive Revelation.
While Joseph was sleeping, the promise was progressing.
What is going on in your life that if you trust him enough to go to sleep, it will actually progress?
Some of us have put our dream in a casket that we should be giving a pillow. Because even when you are sleeping on it, God is about to manifest it.
Progressive Revelation is a term I have used over and over today. It means a consistent, planned, and strategic revealing of the promise of God.
We want God to reveal it the way we open presents, but that's not how He does it.
(Unwrap a Present slowly and methodically.)
Progressive Revelation is a great term when we are referring to every God event throughout history, except the event I am going through.
It is easy to say “keep the faith” when you’re not going through their storm.
If He conceived it, He is powerful enough to reveal it. But are we strong enough for the Progressive Revelation?
Could it be what we think is killing our faith is actually the thing strengthening you to walk out the miracle you've been praying for?
Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.”
We think time is the most detrimental thing to our faith. And after long periods, beliefs begin to fade.
When no lights are shining on you, and when it is completely dark all around you, only then will you notice the light that shines in you.
The Wise Men had been waiting 700 years, then ensued on a 2-year journey. They were not there at the birth. They showed up at the house with the boy Jesus. They brought Joseph and Mary the reinforcements they needed to raise the miracle they had been given.
The time you are waiting isn't punishing you; it is preparing you. It is strengthening you to raise the miracle God is giving you.
Today, I want to re-instill hope that you are still apart of the Progressive Revelation if you haven't seen the manifestation.
There is a promise for you; his name is Jesus.
