The Art of War - We Have A Situation #2

 Opening Scripture: Romans 8:35-39

As we get into the Word of God today can we celebrate the PRAYER PARTNERS for all they do.

The Vision for 2020 is ALIVE - Grow, Build, Live. The quickest way for ALIVE to die is to assault the family. This series is about having proper strategies to have successful families. (Graphic)

The Art of War is an ancient Chinese military treatise dating from roughly 5th century BC composed by Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu /'soon DZOO’/ composed of 13 chapters. Each one is devoted to an aspect of warfare and how it applies to military strategy and tactics. The Art of War remains the most influential strategy text in East Asian warfare and has influenced both Eastern and Western military thinking, business tactics, legal strategy, lifestyles and beyond.

Treatise /ˈtrēdis/ - a written work dealing formally and systematically with a subject.

Romans 8:35-39

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

These verses list a lot of situations. These situations are topical in nature, also not specific in manifestation. Your situation of distress may look different than my situation of distress but none the less, we are both stressing about a situation.

Your situation is not so great, big or overpowering that it will separate you from sovereignty of God.

Sovereignty of God - is the teaching that God is the supreme authority and all things are under His control.

All situations do not originate from God. But all situations must submit to the Sovereignty of God.

If you do not differentiate of verses from in the definition of your mind, you’ll spend time “blaming on” who you should be “praying to”! (3x’s)

I ask myself this question a lot “Did this originate from the devil, or originate from dumb?”

If your family life was a business would you have to fire yourself?

Many of us would say “No!” because we don’t think we are the problem.

The Kids are the problem.

Their attitude is the problem.

My boss doesn’t pay me enough, that is the problem.

Adam, in Genesis, should have fired himself. When God came to Adam, Adam blamed perfection for the problem.

Understand the lunacy of the statement I just made. “He blamed perfection for his problem.” The greater issue is, not the “blaming” but the “becoming!” Adam didn’t even realize what he had become.

What did he become? In his own eyes he became God, when in actuality he became the fallen. When you become elevated in your own eyes, you’ll never notice how far you have fallen.

When satan was cast down he didn’t know how far he had fallen. (Isa. 14:12-15)

When Adam failed, he didn’t realize how far he had fallen. (Gen. 3:16-24)

When we sit on self-made thrones, we don’t realize we have become slaves to our situations.

Many men sit on the throne of insecurity and therefore we reject the information from our wife.

Many women sit on the throne of self-preservation because of past hurts, and therefore miss the joy of receiving because we always think there is an ulterior motive.

Most situations won’t be resolved in the next second, it will be resolved through a system.

God will solve your situation through a system more times than He will a miracle.

If he only solved your situation through miracles you would keep giving birth to baby situations.

Situation: Exhaustion   System: The Sabbath - Work 6 and Rest 1

Situation: Financial      System: Principle of the Tithe

Situation: Worry/Fear System: Seek the Kingdom - Matthew 6:33

When He solves it through a system, He is saving you from the pain of going through the problem over and over and over again.

But we don’t want a system, we want it answered this second.

The reason this series is called The Art of War is because “The Bible is an authoritative book of strategies on how to defeat your enemies.”

The church is great about preaching on the strategy God, but we are horrible about putting the strategy into steps that make a system of successful Godly living.

If strategy doesn’t start with a step and evolve into a system, we will die in our situation.

Many of you have died in the strategy of Jeremiah 29:11. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

You celebrated the strategy and never asked God “What’s the first step?”

We’re busy celebrating the strategy on the way to bankruptcy!

The Art of War is:

I see the situation.

I see my shortcoming.

I’m seeking… not a system or a strategy, but being found in my Savior.

…nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God not only had a strategy for our fallen state, but a system. The strategy was the shedding of
His own blood for the forgiveness of our sins. The system was the crucifixion.

The strategy and the system ended up being the Miracle called salvation that I needed.
