Squad – The Code #4

Opening Scripture: II Corinthians 10:3-6

II Corinthians 10:3-6

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.

Why do we need a squad? Because we are waging war!

The United States Navy Sea, Air, and Land Teams, commonly abbreviated as Navy SEALs, are the U.S. Navy's primary special operations force and a component of the Naval Special Warfare Command.

These Teams are so equipped that they have become one of the elite standards in the world.

The Code (

  • Loyalty to Country, Team and Teammate
  • Serve with Honor and Integrity On and Off the Battlefield
  • Ready to Lead, Ready to Follow, Never Quit
  • Take responsibility for your actions and the actions of your teammates
  • Excel as Warriors through Discipline and Innovation
  • Train for War, Fight to Win, Defeat our Nation’s Enemies

It is this Code of Life that makes them a Squad.

Loyalty to Country, Team and Teammate

John 6:66-71

66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.” 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.

Now the ironic thing in the Gospel of John is that this occurs right after he fed the 5,000.

Many may follow you for earthly bread but only a Squad will follow the Truth.

Serve with Honor and Integrity On and Off the Battlefield

Matthew 5:46-48

46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers,[i] what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

This is the Sermon on the Mount and during this discourse, He is not just setting out the direction of his ministry but setting the Standard of the Squad.

Ready to Lead, Ready to Follow, Never Quit

Matthew 16:24-26

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

It is not a matter of who you are in this life, but a matter of Who you are following.

A Squad knows how to lead, but more importantly how to follow and to never quit.

Take responsibility for your actions and the actions of your teammates

John 15:13-15

13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants,[a] for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

Confidants, your life time people, do not bail! In fact, Squads will take more than responsibility,    they will give their life.

Excel as Warriors through Discipline and Innovation

John 13:12-16;35

12 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant[c] is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

We love to say we are Disciples, but we do not realize the root of Disciple is discipline.

There is a discipline that comes with a Squad to help them excel as warriors.

Train for War, Fight to Win, Defeat our Nation’s Enemies

I John 3:8b

The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

I John 4:17

17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.

Our Squads are created for one purpose “to destroy the works of the devil!”

Today you have a Squad, we operate by a Code, that wants to destroy the works of the Devil in your life. We want to set captives and prisoners free. You are not alone!
