Squad – Contact #1

Opening Scripture: II Corinthians 10:3-6

II Corinthians 10:3-6

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.

Why do we need a squad? Because we are waging war!

The final line spoken was “We’re about to get contact.”

In the body of Christ, whether we realize it our not, we are already in Contact.

Matthew 11:12   12 From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has          suffered violence (Or has been coming violently), and the violent take it by force.”

Jesus is even saying you need to be ready for some Contact.

GroupLife is so much more than Serve, Grow and Know. Group Life is trying to get you a Squad. Because when the War comes, and Contact is made, you do not want to be alone.

So your NextStep is to take the first step.

Traumatic bonding occurs as the result of a lifechanging event in which the people involved create powerful emotional bonds that are resistant to change.

We always view the term traumatic as negative, but the fact is, anything life changing falls under this category, good or bad.

State Championships, Mission Trips, Born Again

                        Abuse, Deaths, Catastrophic loss

No matter the situation, when you go through it with someone there is a bond that is formed.

Now some of these are in your life right now and they are very unhealthy, and you need to break what we call in ministry a soul tie.

Squad Health

Now that unhealthy ties are broken. How do we get to healthy?

Blood, Sweat and Tears

This a great rule of thumb. If someone will bleed with you, sweat with you, and cry with you, you   can possibly consider them for a squad. Next Sunday, in the message C-4, we will line out the Squad Protocol. But Blood, Sweat and Tears is a great place to start.

Group Life – Serving, Growing and Knowing is where you find qualified people in the Body of Christ where you will Bleed together, Sweat together and Cry together.

Trust is built in the Trenches

As we are no longer doing church for you, but we are doing Church with you, you will not ever find a Squad until you get skin in the game.

Nothing becomes important until you have put something on the line.

This is why the sacrifice of Jesus is so great. He gave Blood, Sweat (even as drops of blood) and tears and put it all on the line.

I am telling you, His Sacrifice far outweighs anything we have to surrender.

If he is not the first member of your Squad, you will never have the Squad your heart desires.

What is your Next Step?

Trust is built in the Trench. Commit to Jesus, begin to find a Squad to bleed, sweat and live life with. But you have to put something on the line.
