Scripture: Luke 1:26-33

R.E.A.C.H - Raising Eternal And Community Hope

II Corinthians 10:13b “…but will boast (celebrate, glory in) only with regard to the area of influence God assigned to us, to reach even to you.”

Recognize our area of influence.

To Reach those who we were assigned.

GOAL: I believe God has called everyone of you to lead someone to Christ in 2017.

    • We can ignite nations. Ignite - to set afire or to cause to blaze with flames.
    • We can impact a 4 state area.

Impact - the force of impression from one thing on another; a significant or major affect.

    • We can, We will, We must influence culture in a 20 mile radius of TWBC.

Influence - Change Culture

Who is Sam T. Sirhc? Are we celebrating who we do not know. Have we gotten Christmas backwards.

Advent is a season observed in many Christian churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas

The term is a version of the Latin word meaning “coming”.

The Old Testament is Advent. The New Testament is Event.

You have to have an Advent to get to the Event (Encounter) a time of expectant waiting and preparation.

Some of us get to be a part of an Event because of someone else’s Advent.

Believing God is your Advent. It is the process to get you to your Event

Many of us our “Event” is nothing because it is simply the outcome of your “Advent” (nothing).

When people get a “Message” from God can you out last the Mess to get to the fulfillment of the Message?

A Message

There is a point when the “Word of God” transforms to a “Word From God” to you.

26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

Notice Mary knew about “God” and she knew about the “Word of the Prophets” but she didn't know about the Word of God and the Word of the Prophets to her.

Church people know about the Churches role and God’s Word but not how it relates to them.

The Meeting

34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”

35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

Many people chose to prostitute themselves out to the world rather than birth something for God.

God wants to take us on this amazing walk of Faith or “Advent” but we like the security of the “First World.”

How does it move to to the point where a “Word From God” changes to a “Walk of Faith or Advent.”

The must be a time when “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

Overshadow - to be more important or significant by comparison

For years many of us have been the most important thing in our lives. When overshadowing occurs He becomes way more important by comparison.

This is not saying you are unimportant but that what God is doing becomes so much larger by comparison.

The Movement

Luke 1:38 “And Mary said, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word."

As we see, Mary was prepared to submit and serve God.

Many people pray “God, have your way in me as long as it is my way.”

Serving is not always satisfactory to your desires.

Submission - “Lord, whatever it is, Your will be done.”

Servanthood - Servanthood is not slavery or surrender but it is empowered obedience.

When we recognize “letting the vision of God be bigger than us by comparison,” (which is the definition of Overshadowing) there is an empowerment to carry “God’s Word For You” to fulfillment.

Many people pray, “God, have Your way in me as long as it is my way.” A lot of us quote the famous “Isaiah 6:8” when we see servanthood and submission in our own picture.

Jesus Himself had to submit and serve the Father.

Luke 22:42 - “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours be done.”

What Jesus did was first modeled by His mother. She sowed seed of submission and servanthood into the ministry of her Son.

Mary’s encounter was an advent to Jesus being event .

You can’t spell movement without event.

An event has to occur to create a movement. Jesus had to suffer the event of going to the cross to create a movement of eternal salvation and hope.

Jesus did not sell Himself into slavery, but He stepped into empowered obedience that would take away the sin of the world and usher in the fullness of eternal life.

Make Something

When we have a Meeting and get in Motion He begins to “Make Something.”

Mary had a Meeting and things were put in Motion and Christ was Manifested.

The people in the Upper Room had a meeting things were put in Motion and Pentecost Manifested.

TWBC, let’s have a Meeting, let him Move, and see what God Manifests.
