Lyft – Ridin’ or Drivin’ #4

Scripture Reference: John 12:23-32

What is Lyft?

It is a Ride Share business like Uber or Grab.

Lyft, Inc. is a transportation network company based in San Francisco, California and operating in 640 cities in the United States and 9 cities in Canada. It develops, markets, and operates the Lyft mobile app, offering car rides, scooters, and a bicycle-sharing system.

Lyft is now worth $15.1 billion.

What if your breakthrough is as simple as a sharing a bicycle? What if the Lyft you need is as simple as a scooter?

Some of you know it, but you don’t own it.

The thing about Lyft, is you know it... but you don’t own it. You know how to use it, but you don’t own it. You don’t own the car, the bike, the scooter so we also don’t take the responsibility of it.

Instead of paying for the ride, why don’t we invest in the company. What you invest in, you will have authority in.

How is your life? Are investing or riding?

John 12:23-32

23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

27 “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.30 Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. 31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be drivenout. 32 And I, when I am liftedup from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

Jesus is saying “The ride is about to come to an end.” The disciples wanted Him to stay, they liked riding next to Jesus.

Jesus said, I have some “Driving (vs.31)” to do.

We love to hear about the success of the company, but never understand the depth of the investment.

Some of you can’t understand the magnitude of my celebration going to “3” it’s because you understand the depth of the investment.

It’s not the Dollar of the investment but the Depth.

Today I want you to look past the Dollar (or physical) of the investment, the cross; and look at the depth of the investment.

Jesus wasn’t satisfied riding in someone else’s kingdom, watching the devil abuse people. So he started a kingdom, but it took an investment.

The Initial Investment.

John 16:16-20

16 A little while, and you will see me no longer; and again a little while, and you will see me.” 17 So some of his disciples said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’; and, ‘because I am going to the Father’?” 18 So they were saying, “What does he mean by ‘a little while’? We do not know what he is talking about.”19 Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, “Is this what you are asking yourselves, what I meant by saying, ‘A little whileand you will not see me, and again a little whileand you will see me’? 20 Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.

The phrase “A little while” is used 7 times.

When Jesus died the disciples wept and lamented while the world rejoiced. But their sorrow turned to joy on Resurrection Day.

John 20:1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

            This is Resurrection Day

John 20:11-12 (NKJV)

11 But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?”

She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”

14 Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?”

She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.”

16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!”

Mary traveled with Jesus for 2 years during his ministry. Why did she not recognize him? She       also did not recognize his voice.

It wasn’t until He called her name were her eyes opened.

She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).

17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”

Cling – 36 times; actual touch - same word as touch the hem of his garment.

Jesus said “Don’t touch me for I have not ascended to my father.”

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.

19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 9:12 “12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

This is where it gets good.

Ephesians says he descended, took the keysand led captivity captive and gave gifts to men.       Ephesians 4:8

8 Therefore it says,“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to       men.”

Matthew 27:52

52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrectionthey went into the holy city and appeared to many.

This is what happened from Resurrection morning until Resurrection evening.

John 12:31 “31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.

The was a judgement that happened on resurrection day.

There is a Judgement Seat coming and a Great White Throne still coming.

Daniel 7:9-12

“As I looked, thrones were placed,and the Ancient of Days (The Father)took his seat;his clothing was white as snow,and the hair of his head like pure wool;his throne was fiery flames;its wheels were burning fire.10 A stream of fire issuedand came out from before him;
a thousand thousands (1 million) served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand (100 million) stood before him, the court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.

11 “I looked then because of the sound of the great words that the horn (power of sin) was speaking. And as I looked, the beast (sin – 1 of the 4 beasts in Daniel)was killed, and its body destroyed and given over to be burned with fire. 12 As for the rest of the beasts (the other 3 beasts), their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

Romans 6:14 “14 For sin will have no dominion over you.” The beast, sin, was killed sin no longer has dominion.

Even better “the rest of the beasts (the other 3 beasts), their dominion was taken away.”

Daniel 7:13-14

13 “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven (Hebrews 12:1 The Clouds of Heaven)

there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. 14 And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.

Daniel 7:21-22

21 As I looked, this horn made war with the saints and prevailed over them, 22 until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given for the saints of the Most High, and the time came when the saints possessed the kingdom.

What happened after the tree? There was a judgement issued in your favor according to Daniel 7:13. The Father, The Ancient of Days, walks in looks at satan on one side, the saints on the other and standing between them was the bloody, bruised and battered beaten body of his son and He made a Judgement on your behalf.

Today you have to make a decision, do you want to keep riding, or do you want to invest?
