I Saw The Sign – Give Me a Sign #4

We will be using the account for John 2:1-11 for this whole series.

John 2:1-11

1On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This,the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

The purpose of this series is to help us see the sign, but not stop at the sign but recognize where the sign is telling you to Go.

A lot of us have seen the Signs all around the TWBC Facility for Next Steps and GroupLife. Don’t stop at it, go to it. Get involved in Next Steps and GroupLife.

This series is meant to be Practical. I hope you learn something new, but more than that, I want us to practically apply what we know.

It is not the amount of knowledge you have but the amount that you use.

I want to live out my level of “Spirituality” by being Practical, Holy and Deliverable not Piled, Higher and Deeper making me Pharisitical.

I would if I knew

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

We are all running out of something in our life.

What are you running out of? Or, what are you afraid of running out of?

Notice that Jesus let it run out.

When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”

And if we want to keep this Practical, when we run out, the Christian answer is “Just do whatever Jesus tells you to do.”

Our response is “I would if I knew what he was telling me to do.”

Why would Jesus let it run out? Because he wants to give you something at the party that is so much better than what you came with.  But he wants you to know where and who it came from.

She didn’t know what to do, but she knew who to go to.

She didn’t go to the wedding planner.

She didn’t go to the couple.

She didn’t go to the servants and make them go to Costco.

The reason we are running out is because we’re going to people who do not have what we need.

Many of us who are running out of life is because we have aligned our lives with takers not givers.

We are going to people because we need life, but those people are the very reason we are running out of life.

But if we will go to Jesus, who is the Resurrection and the Life, He will give freely to us whatever we are out of.

John 11:25 “25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life”

And if you are so “out” that it is dead he is the Resurrection also!

She didn’t know what He would do, but she knew who He was.

I don’t know what He will do but I know who He is.

He already knows what he is going to do. (John 6:6) He is wanting me to trust in Who He is more than what He is going to do.

That’s why Mary went to Jesus, because she knew who He was because He was in her.

When Christ is in you and you are in Christ you have the confidence that he can do it we just don’t know how.

She knew when Jesus got involved something was going to change. She didn’t know what he would do but she knows who he is.

It is not in the knowing but in the doing. If you are trying to find the will of God for your life it will start by you doing something.

Amos 3 says God reveals his plans to those who serve. When you serve you get into the flow of him.

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Do “whatever” He tells you. The servants got in on the miracle because they got in on the flow.

When we get in on “fulfilling Kingdom shortages” the Kingdom will get in on fixing our shortages.

The Gospel, Jesus, is the starting place to fix all the shortages of our life!
