FIRE - Strategically Planted

Opening Scripture: Habakkuk 2:1-3

Planted - “Fruit where you are, Roots where you’re Growing.”

3 Keys to “Roots” (Time, Talking, Tithe)

      1. Attending - 3 Sunday’s per month. National statistics show active church attendance is 1.8 Sundays a month.
      2. Inviting - Inviting means Invested. If we won’t invite someone it is because of one of 2 reasons: A Fruit Issue or A Root Issue. We are not Producing or We are not Planted.
      3. Invest - Time (Attending), Talent (Fruit or Inviting), Tithe (Financially)

FIRE - We are in a series called “Fire.” The thing I love most about Firemen is that they are not scared of fire or not caught off guard by fire. In fact, just the opposite is true, they are ready and prepared for fire. The difference between Firemen and the everyday person is the “prepared” state in which they live.

Firemen take personal responsibility to know the properties and principles of fire so they know how to operate in the midst of fire.

If we are going to see the Fire of God we need to know the components and principles God’s Fire. One of the vital components for the Fire of God is Vision.

Habakkuk 2:1-3

1 I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.

And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.

3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

Who is Habakkuk?

All together there are 16 prophets, 4 Major Prophets and 12 Minor Prophets. As they began writing after the Division of the United Kingdom of Israel.

Habakkuk - חֲבַקּוּק was a prophet in the Kingdom of Judah, and his prophecy dates from about 600 BC, just prior to the Babylonian capture of Jerusalem.

Habakkuk was a contemporary of Jeremiah, who also warned that an invading country (Chaldea) would serve as the divine instrument against Judah (compare Habakkuk 1:6 with Jeremiah 6:22-23). Daniel also refers to Habakkuk.

Habakkuk is the first to declare “the just shall live by faith.” Which is the is the inspiration in part to the writing of the books of Romans, Galatians and Hebrews.

Habakkuk is unique in that for the first time a man questions the fairness of God's management of the world - is it really fair how those who are evil seem to win out over the righteous? Chapter Two is the Divine response - that in time the wicked will be punished, that it is for us to be patient in our endurance. Chapter Three is Habakkuk's hymn of praise.

We hear and see churches quote this all the time. We are so quick to quote verse 2&3 but many never see results because we haven’t taken the personal accountability of verse one.

One of the properties to God’s Fire is Vision (Habakkuk 2:2-3) but what are the principles that make up that component — Vision?

What About Me? (The Principles)

1 I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.

I will - personal accountability

My stand - to stand at attention; Military Term

My watchpost - the act of guarding, a place where guards take their stand to watch or look out.

Station myself on the tower - To be fixed at the highest point of the wall, the watch tower.

and look out — to see — what he will say to me,

“look and see what he will say” if we are asking for vision we have to do more than hear what He says but see what he says. How does it look from Heaven’s perspective?

and what I will answer — concerning my complaint (reprove).

We have to realize if things are wrong, it is not God who is in the wrong. How are we going to answer concerning how we will change to line up with Heaven’s perspective?

1320 People for our 4 Easter Services.

77 People Born Again in the first quarter of the 2018 year.

Multiple Baptisms, Healing and Baptized in the Holy Spirit.

… But we have missed “You”!

We have missed “YOU” because we have done great on a platform but haven’t connected personally.

We cannot pastor from a platform… pastoring has to be done personally.

So what has God shown us from Heaven’s perspective?

  1. The New Building
    1. Our desire to be in the New Facility is our 2020 vision. We are still on the time frame to make that happen. If we didn’t break ground until Jan. 2020 we would still be in by Sept. 2020.
    2. The Problem: If you feel you belong to TWBC because of a project, when the project is done you will feel you do not belong any longer.
    3. If you feel lost now and do not have a place to belong, how will you feel when we get into a building 2X this size.

YOU are more important than any project!!!

2. Our Students & Our Kids

    1. TWBC’s desire is for us to create an environment that by the 8th grade our kids can live as true Followers of Christ in a world that doesn’t.
    2. Identity, Thoughts, Acts, Ways of God and now how to live it out and not be ashamed.

Therefore beginning Wednesday, July 11, this is going to completely become Student Ministry and Kid Facility.

This is not a “Want to” change this is a “Necessary Change” for Spiritual Formation.

3. What about Adults?

    1. GROUP LIFE - We want you to find a place of belonging, fulfillment and experience life.
    2. Serve, Grow, Know - BASE Groups have been good but not a fit for everyone.

Examples: Cafe = Life, Security = Life, Impacting Kids = Life, Spanish Translators = Life

      1. We want to create a group that gives you Purpose and Life!!!
      2. We need your help. What do you like?
      3. Group Life gives us the opportunity to Pastor Personally.
        1. We are not dissolving what we currently have but opening it up to facilitate what we do not have.
        2. The Ease of Group Life… You + 2, Talk about God, Pray Together and commit to seeing each other on Sunday.
        3. You can be involved in more than one group.

4. Connect Quickly

We have found at TWBC that we can get people to come… but we want you to stay. The truth is if you are not fulfilled you will not stay. We want you to get past the 6 month wall, overcome and find a place to stay.

    1. To help people get Planted we are creating a complete new position. A pastor to help you Connect.
    2. Damon Wilks will be transitioning into this role. Just as Pastor Bonnie and Pastor Jeff have transitioned in to their current positions from other roles pastor Damon will do the same.  His first objective is to walk with families for the first year. Help Get “You” planted, Get “You” Life, Get “You” into a place to belong.

We don’t want to do church for you, we want to live for Christ WITH you.

Commit To Getting Dirty - Proverbs 14:4Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox."
