DNA - Impact #5

Scripture: Mark 5:41b “…I say to you, arise.”

R.E.A.C.H - Raising Eternal And Community Hope

II Corinthians 10:13b “…but will boast (celebrate, glory in) only with regard to the area of influence God assigned to us, to reach even to you.”

Recognize our area of influence.

To Reach those who we were assigned.

GOAL: I believe God has called everyone of us to lead someone to Christ in 2017.

    • We can ignite nations. Ignite - to set afire or to cause to blaze with flames.
    • We can impact a 4 state area.

Impact - the force of impression from one thing on another; a significant or major affect.

    • We can, We will, We must influence culture in a 20 mile radius of TWBC.

Influence - Change Culture

When you know, you will grow. You will “arise”. The heart of this series, DNA, is to know who we are at TWBC so we can Grow or Arise to the fullness of who we are called to be.

DNA - Deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule that carries the genetic instructions used in the growth, development, functioning and reproduction of all known living organisms.

For this series, DNA, we are going to explain the DNA of TWBC using Mark 5 as a launch point knowing that there are several scriptures we could use in addition to illustrate our DNA, our Core.

Impact:  We LOVE! Therefore, we invest in others and develop people to see life change and community transformation.

Authentic Relationships - We connect with Father

Faith in Motion - Observant Action

Eyes Open -  We are looking for opportunities.

Empower - Embracing and honoring all people

Opportunities for What?

Because of our “Authentic Relationship” with the Father we put our “Faith in Motion” continually looking with “Eyes Open” to “Empower” people to create “Impact.”

Impact:  We LOVE! Therefore, we invest in others and develop people to see life change and community transformation.

We Love!

All these things mentioned above are great but if Love is not the engine, conductor and train itself we are on a track leading to no where.

All journeys are begun with a destination in mind. Our destiny is our REACH goals. If Love is not the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end plus everything in between we have missed it.

The opposite of love is not hate; it is selfishness.

God is Love… so he gave.

I John 4:7-12

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

Faith Works by Love…Every step of faith is a step of obedience and sacrifice.

Galatians 5:6 “…but faith which worketh by love.” (KJV)

I Corinthians 13:1-3 “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

The shocking thing about this scripture is that it is saying “you can do all these things without Love!”

Therefore, we invest in others and develop people

Jesus’ disciples were known after his resurrection because of how He invested in them and the way developed to be like him.

Acts 4:13 “13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.”

You are not an investment project.

People are not projects!

Sometimes we get so involved in ministry that people become projects and we get fixated on “fixing them” rather than loving them and giving an open safe environment to heal.

You are not a project that we are trying to fix. You are a person that we love and are going to pour ourselves into.

It is not about what you can do, but who you invest into!

We do not want you programmed.

We are not trying to program you; we’re trying to position you.

Sometimes Jesus invested in the 1’s instead of the masses.

Mark 5:35

35 While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” 37 And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. 38 They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 And when he had entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.” 40 And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was. 41 Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. 43 And he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.

It is only at the place of “Further Still” that positioning takes place.

Jesus wants to take you into the secret places to reveal the Father to you.

Ex. The Mount of Transfiguration

The Garden of Gethsemane

The Upper Room

As He calls you “Further Still” he is positioning you not programming you.

The One In the Crowd

to see life change and community transformation.

When we change (life change) the community transforms.

One day a bitter old man was walking down the beach and saw a young boy throwing starfish back into the ocean after a huge storm had washed thousands upon the shore.

The old man said grumpily “What are you doing boy? What difference does it make; you can’t save them all!

The boy replied as he threw another back into the water “Just made all the difference in the world to that one!”

The One Transformed:

20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.”

Proclaim in the Decapolis - 10 Cities

Deca - 10

polis - cities

Damascus, Opoton, Philadelphia, Raphana, Scythopolis, Gadara, Hippondion, Pella, Galasa, and Canatha (Gill)

The One In the Crowd

24 And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him. 25 And there was a woman…”

He still stopped for her.

The One They Said Let Die

35 While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”

She lived… but you never hear about her doing great exploits for the kingdom later.

Just Another One

Born November 7, 1918, four days before the Armistice ended World War I, Mr. Graham was reared on a dairy farm in Charlotte, N.C. Growing up during the Depression, he learned the value of hard work on the family farm, but he also found time to spend many hours in the hayloft reading books on a wide variety of subjects.

In the fall of 1934, at age 15, made a personal commitment to Christ through the ministry of Mordecai Ham, a traveling evangelist, who visited Charlotte for a series of revival meetings.

Today he has preached the Gospel to more people in live audiences than anyone else in history—nearly 215 million people in more than 185 countries and territories—through various meetings, including Mission World and Global Mission. Hundreds of millions more have been reached through television, video, film, and webcasts.

Billy Grahm… just another one.

There is no such thing as “Just another in the crowd!”
