Define It - The It Factor #6

Opening Scripture: John 14:26

Planted - “Fruit where you are, Roots where you’re Growing.”

3 Keys to “Roots” (Time, Talking, Tithe)

  1. Attending - 3 Sunday’s per month. National statistics show active church attendance is 1.8 Sundays a month.
  2. Inviting - Inviting means Invested. If you won’t invite someone it is because of one of 2 reasons: A Fruit Issue or A Root Issue.  You’re Not Producing or You’re Not Planted.
  3. Invest - Time (Attending), Talent (Fruit or Inviting), Tithe (Financially)

Define It - You won’t Grow if you don’t know.

The Bible meaning and Bible application of Church words. We call it Christianese.

I ran into a wall trying to start this series. We want to define everything so we can move forward in concert but the first thing we need to define is not “a word” but You and Me.

What is real, we do not always feel. What we feel is not always real.

What is real, we do not always feel. What we feel is not always real.

This is why Define it is so important. If you let your feelings create the definition you will never have what is “Real” about the Kingdom of God.

If we let what is real, the Word of God, define us we may not always feel it but the Fruit is the proof we are looking for and not the feeling.

John 15:16 “that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain…”

We need to have Fruit that remains, but many of us want a feeling that remains.

John 14:26 But the Helper (Comforter), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

“It” is Personal

If we do not come the realization that the Holy Spirit is a person we will never develop a personal relationship with Him.

Holy Spirit - Literal Bible Definition

Holy Spirit - Para-cletos - Greek: Only appears 5 times the Bible.

John 14:16 Helper

John 14:26 Helper

Joel is a Father

Joel is a Son

Joel Spiritual Gift - Apostolic

Does “Apostolic” make me any more or less of a Father or Son? Apostolic is just a descriptive term of how God created Joel.

“It” Is Real

3 Types of Baptism

Baptism in the Body of Christ:

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

I Corinthians 12:13 “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.” (NKJV)

Baptism in Water:

Matthew: 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”

References: Colossians 2, Romans 6

Jesus does the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit: Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1

Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Mark 1:8 “I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Luke 3:16 “John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

John 1:33 “I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

I Corinthians 12 & Matthew 3 are grammatically and Theologically different.

In I Corinthians 12 the Holy Spirit is the Baptizer

In the 4 Gospels Jesus is the Baptizer.

The Holy Spirit wants to baptize into the Body of Christ. Christ wants to Baptize you in the Holy Spirit.

Very few things are in all 4 Gospels. 3 things are... the  birth, death, Resurrection Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

People received all 3 Baptisms.

1. Acts 2:37-38

2. Acts 8:5-17

3. Acts 19:1-6

I John 5:7-8 “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.” (NKJV)

I John 5:7 that bear witness in Heaven.

I John 5:8 That bear witness in the earth.

Blood - Saved

Water - Cutting of flesh; old man is cut off

“It” is for Us

“Life” - Zoe

“It More Abundantly” - over and above, more than is necessary, superadded, exceeding abundantly, supremely, something further, more, much more than all, more plainly
