Alive - Living Dirty #3

Opening Scripture: Revelation 3:1 & Mark 4:26-29

As we get into the Word of God today can we celebrate the EARLY CHILDHOOD DEPT. for all they do.

Revelation 3:1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars.

“I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.”.

As this is Vision Sunday for 2020 can we celebrate, just for a moment, what God did in 2019.

96 New Commitments to Giving at TWBC, 1,320 in Easter Attendance

We also took a journey over the last 20 years and celebrated what God did.

As we move into 2020, not just the year but the decade, how do we know if we are just living life, or truly ALIVE?  And what is LIVE the Kingdom?

Celebrate Where we are! 2002 Offering.

We have to understand that “How We Sow” and “How It Grows” are 2 different processes. If we confuse the two we will never see the harvest because you’ll pull up the seed.

Process 1

Genesis 26:1 “1Now there was a famine in the land, besides the former famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Gerar to Abimelech king of the Philistines.”

Genesis 26:12 “12 And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The Lord blessed him,”

He made a decision in the midst of adversity to sow physically.

Notice I said sow physically not naturally.

It is not natural to sow in a famine.

It is not natural to sow in soil so dry noting will produce.

It is not natural to put effort into a marriage that is already dry and dead.

Some of you are praying for a marriage miracle but won’t go by flowers.

He did something physically but supernaturally. We all pray for supernaturally, but God says start pushing dirt physically.

When are you going to decide to start digging?

Twenty years ago, we decided to start digging and pushing dirt, Guess What? It became a lifestyle.

But now I do not dig with the dread of the dirt, I am inspired by the dream of the harvest.

Do not dig with the dread of the dirt, but inspired by the dream of the harvest.

Process 2

Live - It is not the Inspiration of sowing, It is the Dedication of growing.

Mark 4:26-29

26 And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. 27 He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. 28 The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. 29 But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

Here is the problem with a decision. Payment comes when the feelings are gone.

How many of you have ever planted a garden in inspiration, but never got a harvest because of lacking dedication?

27 He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how.

The feelings you have when you make the decisions, are not feelings you have when you must to walkout the decision.

Marriage, Gym memberships, Kids... but you can’t return them.

We get so focused on how hard it is that we miss what is actually happening.

Have you ever asked, “Why does it have to be hard?”

  1. Character isn’t developed in Comfort, but Comfort develops Complacency

What if it’s hard, not because God is punishing you, but because He is preparing you.

  1. Out of every opposition, there is an opportunity!
  2. Is it Pain or Progress?

If we are going to Live we need to be clear on what the dirt really defines… does the dirt define You? Or does it define the Father?

Dirt throughout the Bible represents Humanity.

We read about dirt in Genesis and we ascribe it to the greatness of God because he created man from the dirt and breathed into his nostrils and became a living being.

But…You see the dirt and you and give yourself a death warrant.

When Divinity met Dirt in Genesis man was formed.

When Divinity met Humanity in Luke 15 a new man was formed.

20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.

When your Humanity meets His Divinity, it defines the love of God more than your faults and failures.

The dirt doesn’t mean you’re a failure it means you have a future.

Don’t you ever put the promise God has prepared for you in the prison of someone else’s expectation.

Your dirt doesn’t define you… but a decision does.

Have you met Divinity?
