Genesis 37:28
Then Midianite traders passed by. And they drew Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. They took Joseph to Egypt.

Many people, in the pursuit of their God-given dreams, fall victim to the frustrations and disappointments that come while on the journey that dream’s fulfillment. What most fail to understand is that, like an elevator, their road to the promise comes with different floors. Many times, it’s like getting on an elevator and pushing the button for penthouse, only to have the elevator go down instead of up. While the elevator may not immediately be going to the floor you’re looking for, you’ll get there if you just stay on it. This is what Joseph experienced. He had a dream that showed him be in a position of greatness. But, little did he know that the journey to that place would go in what seemed like the wrong direction for several years before it came to fruition. He would be sold into slavery by his brothers, falsely accused of rape, and thrown in prison and forgotten about before his dream could come to pass. As difficult as this journey was, everything that took place along the way was positioning him for the role would eventually stand in. His elevator seemed to go down for a very long time before it ever went up. What about you? Do you feel like you’re going in the complete opposite direction from what you should be in order to get to where you need to be? Like Joseph, if you’ll trust the Lord where you’re at, even if it feels like your further away from your dream coming to pass now than you ever have been, He will see to it that you get to where you’re supposed to be. Don’t quit, don’t walk away, stay connected to the Dream Giver and He will see to it that it comes to pass. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Genesis 37:18-20
18 They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him. 19 They said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer. 20 Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.”

Because of jealousy and pride, when many people hear about someone receiving something from the Lord, they do more collaborating than celebrating. This is nothing new. As you can see by today’s scripture text, Joseph dealt with the same problem. When he shared his dream with his brothers, rather than being excited with him they took offense and were jealous of him. They saw it as Joseph being arrogant and rude rather than recognizing that what Joseph was shown could also have been a blessing to them as well. Because most people fail to want to put forth the effort that it takes to hear from God for themselves, they tend to get upset when those that do seek God receive something. A true heart for the Kingdom will rejoice when God moves or speaks…no matter who He moves or speaks to or through. When God promotes someone or gives them great revelation He doesn’t do it with the intent of leaving you behind or trying to make you jealous. He does so to honor of the faith of the one who He chose to use in that moment. When you truly understand the heart of God, you’ll be able to rejoice when He chooses to reveal Himself, irregardless of how He does or who He chooses to do it through. You have the choice of celebrating the movement or collaborating with those to refuse to accept what God is doing. Had Joseph’s brothers truly seen what God was doing, they would have been grateful because God would eventually use Joseph to save their lives. Do you have a hard time accepting it when God reveals Himself to or through others? If so, ask Him to help you release any past hurts or insecurities that may be causing you to become offended. After all, God may have in mind to bless you through the very person you may be holding an offense against. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

When the Lord gives you a dream His intent is for you to steward it, not steal it. If you’re like most people, you’ve experienced the disappointment of dreams that haven’t come to pass. In most cases, when this has occurred, you’ve taken ownership of the dream rather than simply stewarding it. When you’re in covenant with the Lord you must never forget that He is the One who is in charge. He provides everything you’ll ever need to be successful and achieve any dream that He has placed in front of you as long as you see to it that it remains His. If you’re not careful and intentional, the dream will become your focus rather the Lord. If you hear the words, ‘MY dream’, ‘My calling’, ‘MY vision’, ‘MY gifting’, etc, coming out of your mouth, you need to check your heart and make sure that your life is still in complete submission to Him. As soon as you take control you’re destined to fail. The Lord’s intends to accomplish the dream He gives through you. The dreams He gives to you are meant put you in a place of dependency on Him, His plan is never to throw it out in front of you and let you go about it on your own. So don’t steal what God gave you to steward. If you’re dealing with the disappointment of an unfulfilled dream, give it back to Him. Let Him redeem it and return it to you to steward, not steal. He hasn’t changed His mind or given up on you or the dream, it’s not in His nature. He simply wants you, and that dream to remain in His possession. Stay connected to the Dream Giver and those dream really will come true. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Genesis 3:12-13
12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13  Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

From the beginning, literally, people have made it a common practice to avoid responsibility. You hear it all the time when people find themselves in a bad place or get caught in sin, they shift the blame to others for decisions that they’ve made. People will blame God, the devil, their parents, a spouse (or ex spouse), a pastor, even their kids for the mess that they’re in or for a moral or ethical failure. No matter how privileged or under privileged you are or may have been in life, no one is afforded a perfect life on this earth. At some point, in order to get to a place of healing and redemption you must take responsibility and hold yourself accountable for the decisions you’ve made along the way that have led you to the place you are now. You can’t be forgiven for something you refuse to admit to and until you own up to a shortcoming repentance will not occur. It’s time to stop letting pride keep you from seeing the dreams and purposes God has for you come to pass. If you’re in a bad place right now, take the time to look at any past choices that may have brought you there. Doing so will allow you to keep from making the same decision again thereby repeat the cycle. God is not punishing you for your past, you simply haven’t let go of it through repentance yet. The sooner you take responsibility for your actions the sooner God can put you back on the pathway to your dreams. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Psalm 121:1-3
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.

When the Lord gives you a dream and you make up your mind and heart to be obedient to the Lord so that it will come to pass, your enemy will do everything He can to keep it from taking place. When things start coming against you and and you’ve determined that the resistance you’re facing is not coming from poor choices you may have made, then it’s time to lift up your eyes. The enemy knows the single most effective thing he can do to keep those God given dreams from coming to pass is to get to take your eyes off of the Lord. In this Psalm, David knew that God had promised Him the throne. But at that moment He was fleeing from the current king who wanted him dead. What did David make it a point to do? He said that He was going to look to the Lord and not focus on the circumstances around Him. You have the same opportunity to look to the Father when the enemy seems to be winning and is right on your heels. You must refuse to give your attention to a defeated foe and focus it on the One who defeated him. The Lord will do the fighting but you have to let Him. Your battle takes place within your mind that wants to run, give up, or fight the devil yourself. You must resist the pressure to do anything other than focus on the Lord. Follow the instructions He gives you to the letter and allow Him to bring you through to the victory that awaits you. He has already defeated you adversary and He is imparted that victory to you. You simply have to keep your eyes lifted and focused on Him. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Genesis 41:14-16
14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. 15 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” 16 Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.”

Have you ever noticed the irony in this account of Joseph? Joseph was in the situation he was in because he shared his God-given dream with his brothers several years prior. Now, thirteen years later, there He was standing in front the most powerful man on earth being asked to interpret a dream. In that very moment, Joseph had a choice to make. He could allow the past thirteen years of enslavement, false accusations, and imprisonment keep him from interpreting Pharaoh’s dream or he could choose to let go of all the hurt and betrayal and interpret it. It would have been easy to say, “Well! My dream never happened so there’s no way I’m gonna help this guy figure out his!” Looking at it from this side it’s easy to see that Joseph was just ‘a few sentences away’ from being promoted. But in that moment, what would you have done? Would you have chosen to be the answer to someone else’s dream in spite of the fact that you hadn’t received your’s yet? He was one choice away from freedom, one moment from release. His entire life’s path was hanging in the balance. What if the the key to your dream coming to pass lies in you being the answer to someone else’s dream? You may feel like everyone around you is getting everything they ever dreamed of while you’re still playing the waiting game. Choosing to be answer to someone’s prayer will enable the Lord to bring you the answer to your’s. God doesn’t have favorites, He simply rewards faith. The next time you’re given an opportunity to assist someone with their dream, do it! In spite of whether or not you are still waiting on yours. If you give God something to bless He is always faithful to do just that. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
