Genesis 1:27

So God created man (Adam) in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

If you were ask people what it is that hinders them when it comes to reaching out to others you would most certainly get the, “I don’t have anything in common with them”, excuse.  The person who never got pulled into drugs and alcohol would say that they don’t know what that kind of life or addiction is like.  The one who has never dealt with depression would say they couldn’t understand how the depressed person feels.  The white person will tell you that they don’t know what it’s like to be a minority and the minority will tell you that they couldn’t reach a white person.  All of these excuses don’t add up to much in the eyes of God.  While being able to relate to a condition or situation can be an open door for ministry, it is definitely not the only door available to walk through.  Jesus reached out everyone and He had never experienced any of their issues. Today’s scripture makes it clear that God created man…period.  Every person who has ever lived has the very same beginning.  They are a descendant of Adam and therefore a descendant of God.  There is even scientific evidence to verify this truth.  So, the next time that the Holy Sprit points someone out to you, don’t let the fact that they’re ‘different’ become an excuse to disobey.  Every person living can trace their roots back to God Himself.  You have the same Daddy, no other common ground is needed. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Genesis 2:7

Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Of all of the magnificent, beautiful, and glorious things that God created, He only gave life to one.  While many things are ‘alive’, only mankind has had the breath of life, or His Spirit, breathed into them.  Those created in His image received His life, including you!  From the moment you were conceived His life has been imparted into you.  This life however is dormant until you receive Him through being born again.  God the Father, with all of His power and authority, still respects your free will enough to wait for you to say yes to Him.  At that moment, the life He intended for you to receive all along awakens within you and your eternal destiny is secured.  He has known about you and the amazing things that He’s had in mind for the life He’s given you from before time began.  You were meant for so much more than a mere existence.  The moment you say yes to Him is the moment that you become alive.  You draw your first spiritual breath as soon as you allow Him into your existence.  He has known you from before your birth and He would love for you to get to know Him.  If you haven’t already, ask Him to breathe His life into you today. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Genesis 2:9,17

9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.                                  17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

You’ve probably heard the expression, “You live life one day at a time”.  While this is true, it’s only true by the default of time.  When you’re born again, your existence is based no longer in time, but in eternity.  This means that your decision making shouldn’t be based upon temporary thinking but upon eternal thinking.  This has been the case since the very beginning when God placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden.  Adam and Eve had a constant decision to make, not just on a daily basis, but on a momentary basis.  They had to choose whether or not to partake of life or death.  You see, you actually live life choice by choice.  Every time they looked up at the two trees they had to choose life or death.  As you’re well aware, they would eventually make the wrong choice.  In your life today, you must understand that every choice you make will lead you either to a place where you’ll experience life or death.  The place you’re at in life now and the things you’re experiencing are a direct result of choices made by yourself or someone else.  If you will begin to make life giving choices you will experience life in a greater way.  But if you make poor choices, based upon temporary conditions and circumstances, you will reap the consequences of those choices.  Jesus has given you His Spirit to guide you into the truth.  If you’ll allow Him to direct your decision making, the Holy Spirit will lead you into greater life. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Genesis 3:1-3

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.

He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”

The key to a successful Christian life is focus.  What you pay the most attention to is what you’ll gravitate toward.  When you’re behind the wheel of a car and you put your focus on something on the side of the road that is very likely where you’ll end up.  This was the case with Eve when the serpent approached her.  She had her focus on the wrong tree.  If you’ll notice in today’s scripture reference she said the tree ‘in the midst’, or middle, of the garden was the one they were not to eat from.  However, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was not the one in the middle of the garden according to what God said Genesis 2:9, the tree of life was.  The tree of the knowledge of good and evil wasn’t in the middle of the garden but it was the center of Eve’s focus.  The serpent simply took notice of what Eve’s attention was on and took advantage of it.  The devil cannot make you do anything, he has no authority over you, but he is very opportunistic.  He knows when you’re having a bad day or a weak moment and he will try to capitalize on it.  When you catch yourself getting weak or distracted you must do what it takes to reclaim a proper focus so you won’t be pulled off into the ditch.  If life and it’s circumstances are distracting you, make a conscious decision to put your attention back on the One who can keep you from falling. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Romans 5:14

14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.

No matter what walk of life your from, what color your skin is, what language you speak, or where you live, every person from Adam to present has the same common need…a Savior.  It doesn’t matter if you were born in palace or in the slums by your paternal bloodline, going back to the very first man, you have a sin nature.  The very reason why Jesus was not conceived by a man and was born to a virgin was so that He would not be born into the sin nature that had plagued mankind since the fall.  He was born with pure blood in His veins and He never contaminated it by falling into sin.  He was therefore the one and only Perfect Sacrifice for the sins of the world.  As a believer it’s easy to forget how lost you once were and stop seeking out the lost and dying.  This doesn’t mean that you live in a place of guilt and shame so you can reach others.  It means that you never lose site of the grace and mercy you received to be in right standing with the God of all creation.  Even if you have nothing else in common with them, you have the answer to the life of freedom that they’re seeking.  Who can you give the gift of eternity to today?  One thing is certain, you won’t have to look very far.  Allow your Savior to become their’s as well. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff

Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you receive so much more than a ticket Heaven.  Your right standing with God is more just the promise of getting to live forever in the sweet by and by.  When He redeemed you, He not only did away with your sin but the guilt and shame of it as well.  He doesn’t hold His gift redemption to you over your head as constant reminder of how bad you once were.  In fact, He does just the opposite, He looks at you as though you’ve never sinned.  He doesn’t want you to be at all apprehensive when you approach Him with a request or need.  This is exactly what condemnation does.  Far too many Christians use the guilt and shame of their past to be a motivator to do good things for the Lord.  This was never your Savior’s intent but, sadly, it is a trap that many fall into.  He did away with any and all condemnation so that you could experience His love in all of it’s fullness.  This love and compassion is what should fuel your fire for Him and those He’s calling you to reach.  Those who live under condemnation will preach condemnation, but those who live under grace will preach grace.  Which message do you think the lost need to hear more?  Which one would you be drawn to?…Exactly. - Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
