Matthew 5:11-12
11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Have you ever stepped out to do something for God only to have it dismissed or thrown back in your face? Jesus did. Very often, in spite of having the best intentions, doing something that promotes the Kingdom will receive a less than welcoming response. When this occurs, it’s easy to think that you missed it or that for some reason it wasn’t God’s will…but Jesus never missed it and was never out of God’s will. You cannot use people’s response as the measuring stick for your obedience. People will respond out fear, ignorance, and many times jealousy. If Jesus had allowed people’s opinion to determine His obedience then humanity would be in a serious trouble and without hope. You are anointed to spread the Gospel, to advance the Kingdom. Don’t let man’s response move you out of obedience.

Hebrews 5:12-14
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

Think about the last time you flipped through a photo album or came across a box with a bunch of old pictures in it. Did the people in the photos look the same as they did the several years prior when the pictures were taken? Of course not, as long as you live you will continue to develop and mature. The same should be true about you spiritually. You shouldn’t look the same today, as you did a few years ago. Your faith should be stronger, you should be growing wiser and more mature. Sadly, for many believers this is not the case, their faith has hardly grown or developed at all. Are you changing and developing in your faith? Do you look more like Jesus today than you did a year ago? If not, ask yourself why. Figure out when and why you stopped growing and then make the necessary changes to get back on His growth track.

1 Samuel 2:3
…for the Lord is a God of knowledge.

John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Have you ever heard the expression, “Knowledge is power”?. This very true when it comes to your Christian walk. God is often described as the God of love, the God of power, the God wisdom but not many people see Him as the God of knowledge. No one would dispute the fact that He knows everything, but too many times believers walk around ignorant and confused because they fail to ask Him what they need to know. The Bible is undoubtedly full of His knowledge and nothing supersedes it, but He has so much more to tell you than any book could ever contain. You’ll experience more power and victory in your life when you allow Him to impart His vast knowledge into you. He knows you more intimately and personally than you know yourself and He is waiting to “teach you all things”. Will you give Him that opportunity?

Titus 2:14
Who [Jesus] gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

When Jesus died for you and took the penalty for your sin He qualified you to be of use in the Kingdom. This is what the heart of God has had in store for you since the fall of man. His redemptive plan has been in place since that very moment because He wants you to be where He is. Just as He has redeemed you, you must redeem the gifts and blessings in your life by dedicating them for use in the Kingdom. For example, when you tithe, you’re redeeming your finances so they can be a Kingdom benefit. When you cook a meal for someone in need, or fix someone’s car, or assist them in any way with a talent or skill that you possess you’re redeeming that talent or skill. Anything that is redeemed gives you the ability to have it but destroys it’s ability to have you. Start redeeming everything in your life, after all he paid the ultimate price to redeem you.

Matthew 6:13
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen

Have you ever looked closely at shampoo bottle or some other product and noticed that the name of the distributer is usually listed in very small print on the back of the product. You have to intentionally look on that shampoo bottle to see Johnson and Johnson or whatever the parent company’s name is. The same principle should apply to your life and ministry. Jesus is who you should be promoting, He is the product, He is who you’re making known, not yourself. Many believers get caught up in making sure that they’re recognized for what they do for the Kingdom’s sake. God is not unjust, He will promote and honor you as you bring honor to Him. It is not your place to do so. So as He gives you opportunity to minister and serve make sure your motive is to promote the Kingdom and not build your own empire.

Proverbs 28:1
The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Have you ever watched an action movie or sporting event and been taken in by the main character’s or star athlete’s fearlessness? As you sat there and admired their bold and effective actions did it make you want to be the same way? According to today’s scripture, God has put those very attributes in you. He needs you step up into who He has redeemed you to be…a hero. Push aside the fear that keeps you from praying for your co-worker or boss. Say “No!” to those insecurities that hold you back from leading a small group or helping out in the children’s department. God has built the ‘greatness’ gene into your DNA, it is in you and all you have to do is allow it to do what it was put there for…daring and fearless expansion of His Kingdom.
