27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Ready or not, 2019 is here. Like all the new year’s past, people will be making resolutions and setting goals that they want to accomplish before 2020 rolls around. Living a healthier lifestyle, getting more education, reading through the entire Bible, etc. Many will start out excited and determined but will quickly come to a place of seeing these achievements fall by the wayside. Here’ a suggestion, why not get a hold of the promises in today’s scripture…You are made in His image and blessed (empowered to prosper) to be fruitful and multiply. Seek God by asking Him what areas He would like to see you be more fruitful in. When the Holy Spirit gives you a word about your life, He will also empower you to achieve it. This year, don’t simply seek to change the way you live, make a quality decision to step into greater anointing through obedience to your creator.
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
A new year with new beginnings, a fresh start. Are you ready for it? According to today’s scripture, God is. He is doing a new thing and He wants you to be involved with it. As exciting and opportunistic as this is, many people hinder the new things He is trying to accomplish in them by not letting go of the past. Past things are just that…past. Good things and bad things alike, if held on to, will keep you anchored in the old while you are trying to move into the new. Start this new year out brand new. If there is someone you need to forgive, forgive them and release yourself from that bondage by releasing them. If your stuck reminiscing and longing for the good times that you’ve experienced you will fail to enjoy the things that God has for you today. So do yourself and God a favor, let go of things of the past and grab on to the new thing God is doing with both hands.
And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God".
And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
How confident are you in your future? Do you look at this new year with optimism and expectancy or with doubt and anxiety? While it’s true that no one knows what the future holds, you are in a covenant relationship with the One who holds the future. Many people are afraid to ‘get their hopes up’ when it comes to expecting the things they are believing for to come to pass. They don’t want to be let down like they may have been in the past. The problem lies in the fact that people, somewhat unknowingly, begin placing their faith in the things they are expecting rather than placing it in God, the One who can bring those things to pass. You should always be able to smile confidently when you think of your future because your faith is not in the future it’s in Him. The same God who has brought you this far has no plans to stop now. Spend some time discussing your hopes and dreams with Him today. Your future is in good hands when you place it in God’s.
Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Many people go through life with the mindset that God is incomprehensible and His ways are too mysterious to grasp. They think that God sits on His throne expecting us to have a blind faith in Him and His ways. While it is true that there are a lot of things we will not fully know until we get to Heaven, He is not hiding Himself or withholding His wisdom from us. What part of “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known”, says that at all? In fact, the very reason why Jesus came to Earth was to reveal the good plans that the Father had for mankind. His death on the cross was to bring mankind back into a working relationship with Him. His Holy Spirit is here so that He can reveal Himself to every believer by empowering them to obtain a victorious life. So what is it you want to know? He is waiting to impart wisdom and knowledge into you. Call to Him now and be ready to receive.
For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
The beginning of a new year has a way of causing many to focus on their future. While planning and preparation for your future is wise, you should take care to not let your focus on what is to come cause you to neglect the good that God has for you to do and experience right now. You are here to be about doing your Father’s work now, not just when ‘your time comes’. Jesus didn’t come and sit on His hands until it was time for Him to go to the cross, in fact, He did just the opposite. He showed us not only the benefit of His dying for us but the power that we could walk in upon His resurrection. What good can you be right now, right where you’re at? Who’s life can you touch? No one is guaranteed tomorrow and the world desperately needs to experience God’s goodness through His people. Be about doing good today and He will use that to establish your tomorrow.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
As you make plans to attend tomorrow’s worship service, start preparing your heart to hear and receive now. Too many times people come into worship services needing to re-establish their relationship with God rather than coming ready to be imparted into by His Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that you encounter at church is the same Spirit that is with you now. It’s time that believers start using worship services for celebration and impartation rather than for repair and maintenance. When this takes place the church will become more than just a hospital for Saints, it will become a place of rescue for the lost. Christians must do as David did when mistakes and trials occur, repent quickly, move on, and get back to doing Kingdom work. Think about how powerful corporate worship would be if everyone came in filled with His power rather than expecting to be fixed by it. Take the time to get right with God now, so you can be used by Him tomorrow. See you in the morning.
